Steam in sepiaPosted by Vinman (Essex, United Kingdom) on 29 September 2008 in Transportation and Portfolio. This was taken at the Bluebell Railway in Sussex, where a group of volunteers and enthusiasts have restored many old steam engines and original carriages from such famous trains as the Flying Scotsman. It was a very bright sunny day and the steam from the engine was backlit which, with the very dark green of the engine, lead to a great deal of contrast. Fortunately this was shot in RAW so I was able to retrieve a lot of detail in the highlights and shadows using curves but the extremes meant that there was a lot of colour noise as well so I ended up converting it to black and white. I added the sepia tone as it seemed to fit the image. Thanks for visiting my site. If you like my pictures please vote for me on VFXY using the link below.
